EXPOSED: How Some Guiders Intend To Crumble MMM Nigeria

The Marvodial Mundial Movement popularly known as MMM is a self acclaimed socialist scheme where people help each other financially through monitored donations. The Sergey Marvordi pioneered scheme started in 2011 and was first introduced in Nigeria in 2015. Ever since, the scheme has spread like wildfire and in fact, has gone viral.

MMM has indeed put smiles on the faces of a lot of Nigerian individuals ad well as households. The ponzi scheme which promises a 30% return on investment also provides further mouthwatering bonuses such as referral bonuses and first time bonuses for new entrants. These bonuses are the most responsible for the high level dedication put in by members of the scheme because the more your downlines, the more your bonuses.

MMM may have proven to be sweet water for many; however, most of its participants still believe that the system will crash—but they just seem not to know when. Some months ago at an MMM seminar in Benin, I was in a discussion with a guider with MMM on the life span of the scheme and he said, "MMM is like the journey of life: we know we shall eventually die but we don't know when; thus, we strive to prolong our days of living."

Now, haven established the fact that MMM—realistically speaking— won't last forever, what should be most paramount to members is how to sustain the system. MMM was built on an assumption of a financial community sans greed and panic. Panic, 70% of the time is an external influence and I think can be easier handled. However, greed which is internal to the system is much more difficult to contain and eradicate after infestation.

I mentioned earlier, the type of bonuses MMM has in store for its members and I also blamed those bonuses as the reason for the unflinching dedication of MMM participants. Albeit, as much as these bonuses go as a motivating factor, it could also be the a route to the end of the scheme; and this can be facilitated by a certain group of persons high up the ranks in the system.

Guiders are invariably the figureheads in MMM and as the name implies, they serve as guardians and guides to other embers of the scheme. They are believed to understand deeply, the nitty-gritty of the workings of the system as well as being able to prefer answers and solutions to questions and challenges from various downlines. The duty of a guide is hectic and therefore commands a financial reward which comes as percentage cuts from moneys donated by their downlines, paid in mavros.

Today, we have lots of Guiders in Nigeria with accumulated mavros equivalent to hundreds and—in some cases—millions of Naira. This could portend great danger for the system as some Guiders intend to keep accumulating these mavros and then withdraw them without providing help or providing a very disproportionate amount.

Easier put, if these greedy and dishonest Guiders keep carrying on their bidding, there will be more people to be helped than there are that help; the amount to be paid will outweigh that already in the system—a trend which spells doom for the scheme.

It is no news that man is greedy and self-centered. That, on the long run will emerge as the most hurting pain in MMM's butt. What is left to be seen is how this seeming incurable disease is managed by those at the centre. However, when a killer disease infests the roots of a tree, that tree should prepare to be used as firewood.

My name is Chidubem Joseph Njoku and I just want to make common sense.
