Nnamdi Kanu should be jailed; he called Nigeria a zoo!

Over the recent weeks, newspapers and social media have gone agog following the arrest of a certain Nnamdi Kanu, leader of a group called Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB). While some are crying fowl over his arrest and subsequent detention; some others argue in favour of his detention. I really did not want to publicize my opinion about Nnamdi Kanu and his Biafran struggle but since his boys prevented me from going about my normal business in the city of Port Harcourt some days ago, I felt it was time I blew my trumpet to the ears of the world.

Nnamdi Kanu, the head of the Indigenous People Of Biafra that has refused us rest in recent weeks is surprisingly a youthful man; handsome to the core; and a graduate of Political Science. He schooled and lived in the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria to constitute an unnecessary nuisance to innocent Nigerians.

As part of their campaign and illicit demand for the defunct Republic of Biafra, IPOB went a step further with the creation of Radio Biafra — a platform it used in reaching out to the world. Initial broadcasts were carried out from London until recently when Kanu developed enough guts to showcase his skills in Nigeria.

Nnamdi Kanu and his Radio Biafra hovered from one channel to another as they were being seriously tracked down by the NBC (who I think should have done better). Until his eventual arrest, Nnamdi continued  to serve out dishes of propaganda to his listeners. His primary business was talking down on Nigeria. He found it worthwhile to use abusive words on Nigerians as well as the Nation itself.

When people come out to say Nnamdi Kanu did nothing wrong, I begin to wonder whether truth still exists in this part of the world. Anyone who listened to Radio Biafra can testify to how abusive Nnamdi has been towards his country Nigeria. You cannot blaspheme against your country and expect her to give you a national award for that. An individual who publicly and continuously referred to Nigeria as a zoo; and did so unapologetically, deserves to be jailed for eternity! Nigeria of 2015 isn't the same as the Nigeria of the 1980s. You cannot just walk into the country to act Fela and expect you'd go scot free.

I am a Nigerian and an Igbo man to the core but when a crime is committed, it should be treated as one irrespective of the person involved. I understand the Igbo man has been sidelined in the government and politics of Nigeria; but hey! There are better ways to convince Igbos to buy the Biafran gospel rather than circulating propaganda, false information and threats. The president himself isn't big enough to threaten the peace and unity of the country talk less of an Nnamdi Kanu whose bones are yet to mature.

Nnamdi Kanu has transgressed against the Nation Nigeria and whichever way you choose to look at it, he deserves the penalty for such a grievous offense. The fight for Biafra might be plausible if only Igbos will face issues without sentiments and unnecessary hate for others. Even when Moses in the Bible wanted to force his way and that of the Israelites  out of Egypt, he never insulted Pharaoh or Egypt. Kanu should learn from that and stop flexing muscles like a nursery child when men now flaunt bones. If Kanu thinks Nigeria is a zoo, then I think he should be shut in one of its fiercest cages.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Long live Nigeria, long live Nd'Igbo.

  3. @Chidubem .The major question to be asked is if he broke any law ... There is a difference between offending someone and breaking a law. Just as you have spoken out your mind in this post, that is the same way he spoke out his mind. It is no crime for him to insult the country and therefore, he shouldn't be arrested for calling the country a zoo based on the heading you gave.
