Nigerian Tweeters: Low On Common Sense; High On Nonsense

For about five years now, I've been on the Twitter network and trust me, the rot there isn't getting any lesser. Everyday, new breeds of nonsense emanate from the multi-million member social networking platform. Think of anything nonsensical and I'll show it to you on Twitter. From immoral talks to ceaseless abuses, false rumors and so on....the nonsenses go on and on.

On Twitter, you get insults for answers. You greet someone good morning and the person's replies "goan brush your teeth first." Absolute nonsense. You look at people's avi and see semi nude girls, exposing sensitive parts of their already devalued bodies. Guys in search of cheap popularity also prefer to put up those semi-nude profile pictures. Nigerian tweeters now fancy insanity over normalcy.

Social networks are corrupt. Yes! And Twitter is the home of its corruption. Sometimes I wonder how difficult it has become to tweet sense in 140 characters. Continuously tweeting nonsense has made many popular on Twitter and it's really appalling. The sorry thing about this whole mess is that the bulk of people tweeting these nonsenses are youths and this spells doom for the future sense of the country.

A few days back,  I was going through my wall on Twitter and I discovered that virtually all the sensible tweets that I'd put up on Twitter have drawn less attraction, recognition and mentions from tweeters.
But you see, the moment I decided to put up something stupid and nonsensical, the mentions I got was massive! For the first time, I got over hundred mentions from a tweet in less than one hour and it was really ridiculous.

Nigerian tweeters  obviously feed on nonsense. They eat it, digest it and spill it. Common sense hardly exists on Twitter. Perhaps, Ben Bruce has gotta do more with his common sense making on Twitter. Again,  you look at the kinda things that trend on Twitter and you get the peep into the content of the mind of the Nigerian youth of today. Recently, the #HelloChallange trended for days and what's the sense in it really? Nonsense!

Twitter no doubt is a fantastic platform to interact, share and sell ideas, opinions and products. But the rot on there is not helping matters at all. Most Nigerian tweeters have decided to feast on nonsense and reduce their dose of common sense. Funny enough, it is the same people that post "Praise The Lord"and" "Ins'Allah" on Facebook that also tweet those corrupt, vulgar and immoral nonsenses on Twitter. Nigerian twitters must learn to tweet at least, common sense if doing more than that is too much. For those who don't even have the common sense. Well, it's not to late to add that to your new year resolution.
